Chumash ('alapkaswa'): unknown 

Note: Lonicera subspicata var. subspicata (Santa Barbara honeysuckle) was considered to have the same uses as Keckiella cordifolia (heartleaf penstemon). 

Leaves were boiled in water, and the decoction was consumed as a remedy for colds and runny noses. Sores and wounds were washed with the tea of this plant, and fresh leaves were applied as a poultice.

'alapkaswa' refers to the local Chumash dialect spoken at the kaswa’ village near modern Hope Ranch.
