Channel Islands Restoration Business Sponsorship

Dear Business Leader,

Channel Islands Restoration (CIR) has provided engaging and educational field trips to the Channel Islands for nearly 3,000 young people. We are proud of this accomplishment, but our goal is to double that number over the next five years. The majority of the population we serve have never been on a boat or visited a national park before, as the youth in our program come from primarily low-income families. The impact of whales, dolphins, and other marine life while visiting the unique islands and helping with a service project on these children is truly unimaginable—and that’s before the real work even begins!

We are all fortunate to have Channel Islands National Park in our own backyard, and those of us who have had the opportunity to visit these fabulous islands will never forget the experience. When I was in 6th grade, my elementary school took my class to Anacapa Island for the day. It literally changed my life, and it is directly related to why I still work with the islands nearly 50 years later. Unfortunately, however, public schools no longer have the funding for such trips, so far fewer kids can experience the long-lasting (or in my case, life-changing!) impact of visiting the Channel Islands and the Santa Barbara Channel.

Grants can only fund a portion of our goal, so we turn to folks like you — valued business leaders in our community — to help us share the beauty of our own backyard and to positively impact the lives of thousands of young people. You can help us.

One service trip to the islands for 30 kids costs about $4,500, which includes the cost of the boat, the bus, and staff to organize and lead the trip. Your help, whatever you can provide, will directly change the lives of many young people in our community. You will make a lasting impact for both the kids, the islands, and the planet. Our program offers a wonderful opportunity to show kids a whole new world while teaching them essential life lessons and we’re proud to invite you to be a part of this important project.

Why Your Support Matters

Help Support Channel Islands Youth Educational Trips

Channel Islands Restoration provides an unparalleled service-learning experience for schools and youth groups on the California Channel Islands. Focusing on habitat restoration and island ecology, we offer students a unique chance to engage in hands-on restoration projects while exploring the captivating realm of conservation biology and the unique ecosystem of the Channel Islands National Park. Often dubbed the "North American Galapagos," this park consists of five tectonically formed islands surrounded by a vast marine sanctuary and is home to wildlife found nowhere else on Earth.

Help Support Mainland Youth Educational Tours

Our mainland educational tours for adults and youth are designed to do more than teach—they also empower students to contribute to environmental preservation. These tours offer a unique chance for students to experience California's natural beauty while engaging in hands-on activities that help protect its native habitats. Through staff-led programs, field trips, and chaperoned day trips, we aim to cultivate a deep appreciation for environmental conservation and inspire the next generation of eco-conscious leaders.

  2. Detailed maps and photographs of the Channel Islands

  3. Historical insights into Native American and European ranching

  4. Island ecology with a focus on the vulnerabilities of the Channel Islands

  5. The effects of invasive species

  6. Efforts to restore native plants and animals

Help Support Habitat Restoration Work

Channel Islands Restoration has been dedicated to enhancing the unique and endangered environments of the Channel Islands and Southern California's coast since 2001. We focus on removing invasive species, growing and planting native plants, setting up irrigation systems, creating ecology plans, and conducting plant and wildlife research. Our team’s deep knowledge of native and non-native plants, as well as endangered species, guarantees the success of our restoration projects.
