Lemonade berry
Scientific: Rhus integrifolia
Common: Lemonade berry
Español: Mangle Menor
Chumash ('alapkaswa'): walqaqš
Berries may have been eaten in same way as berries from Laurel sumac (Malosma laurina), pounded and dried in the sun and eaten without cooking. Other California people soaked the fruits in water to make a beverage, and the Cahuilla people ate the berries fresh or dried or made them into mush.
