Nurture the natives at the San Marcos Foothill Preserve!
Invasive non-native annual plants have sprouted after the rains and overrun our newly planted natives at San Marcos Foothill Preserve--
please help us clear them away so the natives can get their feet deep into the ground and hold their own space!
Native plants are essential to birds and other animals, especially at this time of year.
What to wear
Wear long pants, closed-toe shoes, layered clothing in case the morning is chilly, and include a long-sleeved shirt for arm protection. Wear a hat for sun protection and, of course, your favorite sunscreen.
What to bring
Bring gardening gloves if you have them, at least one filled water bottle, and extra sun screen in case you'd like to reapply it. CIR will have used gloves on hand and we will have extra water and granola bars to keep you hydrated and energized!
Where to meet
Meet your field leaders at the intersection of Antone Rd and Debra Dr (see link, below) at 9:00 a.m. The address is approximately 3933 Antone Rd, Santa Barbara, CA 93110. Driving directions: Click here for directions
RSVPs aren't necessary, but are greatly appreciated! Note that volunteers who help on mainland restoration projects have priority for island projects!
