Channel Islands Restoration is working to eradicate the non-native invasive Tamarisk species in the Santa Ynez River. The objective of the project is to restore and maintain habitat for riparian dependent species such as the federally listed arroyo toad, California red-legged frog and steelhead trout.
The project is located within the Los Padres National Forest in Santa Barbara County, California on the upper Santa Ynez River system. In the spring of 2021, we will be working downstream from the Santa Ynez headwaters to Jameson Lake and the major tributaries of Whisky Creek, Juncal Creek, Alder creek, and several unnamed tributaries.
Trip Overview
We will be conducting four trips into the upper Santa Ynez watershed between February 2021 and April 2021. Until the road construction is completed on East Camino Cielo all trips will enter from the Matilija canyon side near Ojai.
