The Common dolphins are found throughout the world’s oceans and can usually be seen when going to the Channel Islands while crossing the Santa Barbara Channel. They are defined by two distinct groups, long and short beaked. Long beaked are more often seen near the coast while short beaked can be found swimming further out to sea. Both dolphins have a dark gray appearance with a lighter underside and Common dolphins can be split into two groups long and short beaked. Both groups are found throughout the world’s oceans and enjoy jumping and surfing the bow waves of vessels.
