A long time ago, in a vibrant beach community off the coast of California... Duke McPherson and Ken Owen established a nonprofit organization dedicated to community involvement, education, and collaboration of restoration efforts to benefit California's Channel Islands. From a single volunteer project removing invasive plants on Santa Cruz Island, Duke and Ken's years of experience in environmental restoration and educational services helped them to grow and establish Channel Islands Restoration!

Twenty years later, Channel Islands Restoration has worked on over 30 different projects on the Channel Islands and more than 70 projects in Santa Barbara County, Ventura County, and Los Angeles County. Today, CIR continues to restore habitat, propagate native plants, and remove invasive species up and down the Central Coast.

Now is your chance to learn how CIR built a successful 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization!

In celebration of our 20th anniversary CIR's Executive Director, Ken Owen, will present an introduction to the habitat restoration work and environmental education programs CIR started in 2002.

This 45-minute presentation (plus a 15-minute Q&A opportunity) will highlight how CIR became established and our early success in building a unique habitat restoration nonprofit organization from the ground up.

Join us September 7th for our premiere presentation in this educational series!
