A message from CIR's Executive Director:
During the past few months, we have all faced unprecedented hardship. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused uncertainty and fear and brought the tragic deaths of over 100,000 of our fellow citizens. In this time of uncertainty, we have again witnessed the ongoing systemic racial injustice that has brought our country to the boiling point.
At CIR, we stand firmly in opposition to bigotry, hatred, and inequality in all of its forms and we support all the peaceful protesters who are making their voices heard about the killing of George Floyd and so many others.
CIR will continue to do its part by providing free field trips to the islands for kids from disadvantaged families in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. We all have a responsibility to work towards making a contribution to building a society that is socially just. Let us not be discouraged but work together to overcome all challenges, both to social justice and the environment that we work to protect.
